Chapter 1 Sutra 2 आयुः-कामयमानेन धर्मार्थ-सुख-साधनम् । आयुर्वेदोपदेशेषु विधेयः परम् आदरः ॥ २ ॥ अब हम यहॉं से आयुष्कामीय ( द्रीर्घायु तथा पुर्णायु की कामना ) करने वालों के लिये जो हितकर हैं, उस अध्याय की व्याख्या करेंगे जैसा कि आत्रेय आदि ऋषियों ने पहले कहा हैं। आयु की इच्छा रखने वाले पुरूष जो की धर्म, अर्थ (धन), सुख प्राप्त करने का साधन हैं, उन्हें आयुर्वेद के शिक्षण में विश्वास होना चाहिए तथा आयुर्वेद में बताये निर्देशों का प्रमुख रूप से आदर करना चाहियें। Now we will explain the chapter which is beneficial for those who wish to have Ayushkamya (wishing for long life and full life) from here, as the sages like Atreya have said earlier. Men who desire age, who are the means of attaining Dharma (religion), Artha (wealth), sukha (happiness), should have faith in the teaching of Ayurveda and should respect the instructions stated in Ayurveda prominently.
